Last week, the Eastern Football Netball League Under 15 Boys and Girls Interleague teams travelled to Sydney to tour AFL facilities and play off in a round-robin against the GWS and Sydney Swans academy sides.
An opportunity for our young Interleague stars to experience a glimpse of what it’s like playing at the AFL level.
The group toured the Sydney Swans HQ and the Sydney Cricket Ground, hearing from Swans AFL Assistant Coaches, Amon Buchanan and Mark McVeigh. The two experienced coaches at the elite level were able to share insights as both AFL players as well as AFL coaches.

While touring the GWS facilities, the group also had the opportunity to hear from GWS Vice Captain Tom Green.
Currently out of the Giants' side injured, Green generously spent a great amount of time with the group, passing on advice as a young AFL player and answering all their questions.

The following day, both the Under 15 Boys and Girls played in a round-robin style fixture against the GWS and Sydney Swans U15 Academy sides at Macquarie Uni Oval.
All teams performed well against two strong academy teams in competitive outings.
EFNL Junior Operations Manager, Daniel Houeix, was thrilled with the opportunity provided for the players.
“It was great that we could provide an exciting opportunity for our Under 15 players to wrap up their time with the EFNL Interleague program in Sydney.”
“Thank you to both Sydney Swans and the Greater Western Sydney Giants for accommodating us.”
“Thanks to Wayne Judge, Rhonda McMillan, Jarryd Cursio, Kirsty Jamieson and Heath Black for their support over our time away.”
