AFL Umpire Nick Jankovskis joins junior umpire James Gunther

An Eastern Football Netball League junior clash at Morton Park today will showcase a special moment for the league's junior umpiring space, as AFL umpire Nick Jankovskis partners with emerging junior umpire James Gunther.

The duo will take charge of the U12A clash between Blackburn and North Ringwood at 10am this morning, providing a unique opportunity and experience for James to have AFL experience on the field as mentorship.

Jankovskis has established himself as a key umpire at the professional level for the last five years, first umpiring an AFL clash in 2021.

A former Eastern Football League umpire, Jankovskis started with the league in 2010 before getting on a VFL list and progressing through the ranks. His highlights at the top level include umpiring the 2022 AFLW Grand Final.

Today's involvment by Jankovskis to partner with one of our emerging umpires helps strengthen the pathway for junior umpires within the EFNL.
