AFL VIC COMMUNITY FOOTY AWARDS

Last Friday night AFL Victoria held their Community Football Awards Gala Dinner, recognizing achievements in Auskick and coaching as well as highlighting the efforts of volunteers from around the state.

Blackburn Junior Football Club – Girls (YJFL) Coach Katherine Smith (Pictured) took out the Female Coach of the Year award, ahead of a packed category of worthy nominations.

Waverley Blues JFC coach Luke Delaney was nominated in the Junior Coach of the Year category for his outstanding management of players as well as his ability to create a bond within his side.

Gary Monopoli was recognized for 25 years of service to the NAB AFL Auskick program. Monopoli has been dedicated the the game not only in the Eastern suburbs but state wide for a number of years.

Finally Greg Boyd was recognized for his service over 25 years to the Auskick program including 15 spent as District Manager within the Eastern Region.

The work of our amazing coaches and volunteers never fails to go unnoticed by many in the community. Highlighting the works of few is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the sheer number of people that ensure that our great sport thrives each winter.

Congratulations not only to the winners and nominees but also to everyone who assisted in their own small way to help make 2015 a success.
