BENDIGO BANK SATURDAY NIGHT SCOREBOARD

In Division 1, Doncaster recorded a rousing nine-point victory over reigning premier South Croydon, led by ruckman Nick Komen with five goals and Chandler medallist Chris Annakis with four.

Meanwhile, Norwood defeated Noble Park to the tune of 91 points, off the back of 10 majors from Leigh Williams, while Blackburn opened its account for season 2018 with a win over Rowville, in Brendan Allen’s first victory as Panthers senior coach.

In Division 2, Upper Ferntree Gully took the points over Mooroolbark with a 42-point victory. Daniel Reid and Joel Perry headlined the goals with two apiece, while co-captain Liam Gellie featured among the best players.

Bayswater and Doncaster East played out a thriller at Bayswater Oval on Saturday afternoon, with the Lions prevailing by 10 points. Doncaster East led by as much as 30 points late in the third term, before the Waters rallied to draw within five points midway the last quarter. Jake Whitling and Brock McLean led the way for the Lions to finish among the best players, while Ben Searle and Cameron McLeod were impressive for Bayswater.

Division 3 saw Boronia record an eight-point win over Scoresby to claim top spot on the ladder, while Templestowe won its first match of the season with an upset 29-point win over Donvale.

The Glen Waverley Hawks responded to last week’s loss with an upset win over Forest Hill in Division 4. Meanwhile, the Whitehorse Pioneers handed Surrey Park its second-straight defeat, prevailing by 48 points after leading at all changes.
