EFNL Junior Finals Recap - Finals Week One (Under 11's to Under 15's)

The EFNL Finals kicked off on Sunday afternoon with some cracking finals. Read a full recap of all of the Under 11 to Under 15's finals here.

Junior Girls Finals Review

U12 A 

A fast start by Norwood enabled them to overcome a determined Wantirna South and advance through to Grand Final Day.

Somewhat of an upset in the first-semi, a strong finish by Lysterfield, 20 to 9 victory over Blackburn helped them qualify for this Sunday’s Preliminary Final.

U12 B 

An excellent second half saw Knox/Bayswater defeat East Ringwood, 23 to 11, and advance to the Grand Final. Phoenix Tanner had a day out kicking all three goals for Knox/Bayswater.

A game-winning first quarter allowed North Ringwood to hang on to defeat Beaconsfield 12 to zip and move into the Preliminary Final.

U12 C 

In a tight tussle, Kilsyth managed to hang on to defeat a gallant Mitcham side by five points to move into the Grand Final.

A strong first term set up the win for Heathmont over South Croydon, 28 to 13. They now progress to this weekend’s Preliminary Final. Zara Ball with two goals was the leading goalkicker on the day.

U12 D 

A dominant display by Lilydale, 42-point winners over Rowville Knights qualified them for the Grand Final in 2 weeks time.

In a very tight contest, a solitary goal in the last quarter was enough for Rowville to outlast Wantirna South, 18 to 8 and move into next week’s Preliminary Final. Chloe Sammens with two goals was key for Rowville.

U14 A 

A  20 to 0 first quarter set up a very strong performance from Lysterfield against Wantirna South to win out 31 to 2 and advance to the Grand Final.

A match winning third term of 2.1 to 0.3 allowed East Ringwood to defeat Norwood 32 to 11 and move into the Preliminary Final.  Two goals to Grace Carrazzo were vital to the final score.

U14 B 

A three-quarter time lead of 18 to 1 was enough for The Basin to defeat Montrose 18 to 3 and qualify for the Grand Final. Madeleine Masson with two goals was the only goal kicker for the game, a fantastic effort.

A strong finish to the game by South Belgrave, kicking 2.3 to Vermont’s 0, allowed them to win 25 to 2, and move into the Preliminary Final.

U14C 

A nail-biting win, 14 to 13, saw Mitcham defeat Ferntree Gully allows them to qualify for the Grand Final. Ferntree Gully will be hoping to win the Preliminary Final against Rowville/Boronia to have another chance against Mitcham.

A come from behind win from Boronia/Rowville, 16 to 7, against South Croydon sends them into a Preliminary Final next week.

U14D 

A blistering first half of 31 to 0 by East Burwood set up the upset defeat of Wantirna South, a final score of 50 to 9, moving the Rams into the Grand Final.

The first semi-final was a great game of footy, particularly in the third quarter where both teams hit the scoreboard, each with 2.1. However, it still wasn’t enough for Blackburn who eventually went down 26 to 13 to The Basin.

Junior Boys Finals Recap

U11 A  

Blackburn are into the Grand Final after a tight contest for three quarters before the Burners kicked away to defeat Montrose 65 to 26.

North Ringwood upset Ferntree Gully 51 to 28 to move into the Preliminary Final next week.

U11B 

The Basin must have had a rev up at half time as they turned around a two-goal deficit to move 19 pts up the final break, kicking 6.1 to 1.0 in the quarter.  They move into the Grand Final with a 57 to 31 win over Chirnside Park.

Mitcham held off a fast-finishing Vermont to win by three points, 17 to 14 and progress to the Preliminary Final against Chirnside Park.

U11C

A strong final quarter coming from 2 pts behind, proved the difference and a Grand Final berth for Croydon against Lysterfield 43 to 21. John Oettinger, captain of Croydon kicked three goals in a very solid performance.

Glen Waverley Rovers also came from behind at ¾ time to overrun a gallant East Ringwood, 40 to 34 to reach the Preliminary Final next week.

U11 D1 

A strong performance from Rowville to win 34 to 14 against the Waverley Blues to progress through to the Grand Final. Hudson Bray finished with three goals for Rowville in a great finals performance.

Beaconsfield charged home in the final quarter, but to no avail as Norwood hung on by just two points, 23 to 21 win in an exciting contest.

U11 D2 

A very solid win by Ferntree Gully against Noble Park, 29 to 14, places them into the Grand Final in two weekends time.

In a cliff hanger, East Burwood held onto a 1-point win against a gallant Montrose Red to progress to the Preliminary Final next week, 22 to 21.

U12A 

A tight second-semi finished with Montrose winning by seven points against North Ringwood to progress to the Grand Final, 31 to 24.

After a low scoring opening half, one behind to four, Lysterfield raced away to a 44 to 7 win against Beaconsfield to book a spot in the Preliminary Final this weekend against the Saints.

U12B

 In an upset finals win, Norwood booted three goals in the third quarter and were able to overcome The Basin and move into the Grand Final, 36 to 24.

In a low scoring affair, Mitcham progressed to the Preliminary Final with a 14 to 3 win over South Belgrave.

U12C 

A  five-goal to one third quarter was enough for East Ringwood to win its way through to the Grand Final, defeating the Waverley Blues 55 to 33.

A great 3.2 to 0.2 third quarter was enough for Boronia to defeat Ferntree Gully, 23 to 15, and advance to the Preliminary Final.

U12D

Eight scoring shots to one in third quarter was enough for Lysterfield Grey to advance to the Grand Final after beating out Kilsyth by 23 points. Austin Hall with 4 goals for Lysterfield and Hudson Smith with 3 goals for the Cougars were prominent down either ends of the ground.

Montrose also qualified for into the Preliminary Final with a 19-point win over Blackburn.

U13A 

In a high scoring game, 70 to 61, Lysterfield Teal who had trailed for most of the game, managed to come flying home with a five goal to one last quarter against Montrose Blue to move into the Grand Final.

A great 5.4 to 0.2 second quarter set up Blackburn Black for a convincing win against Beaconsfield Gold, 83 to 35.  Goals were equally spread around in a real team performance.

U13B 

A very solid four quarter performance from Vermont saw the Eagles defeat the Ferntree Gully and send them into the Grand Final. Finn Gallagher and Jimi Simpson with five goals each had excellent games.

Lilydale had a very strong 88 to 21 win over South Belgrave in the first semi-final to advance to the Preliminary Final.  Goals were shared in an even team performance.

U13C 

A great game of finals football saw East Ringwood win 81 to 62 against Rowville. The Roos took their chances in front of goal to advance to the Grand Final.  Roos forward Charlie Bedford and Hawks star Aidan Ucci each kicked five goals in great individual performances.

A four quarter effort from Wantirna South enabled them to win 62 to 22 against Mitcham and advance to the Preliminary Final.  Harley Jackson hit the scoreboard with four goals for the Devils.

U13 D1 

A very strong first-half enabled Heathmont to defeat North Ringwood 91 to 29 and move into the Grand Final. Kroften Wickham booted four goals and Sam Golletta along with Wes Hay kicked three goals each to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

A third quarter blitz of 6.1 to 1.1 was enough for Norwood to defeat a gallant Blackburn team, 47 to 37.  Lachlan Irvine had a great last half for Norwood with four majors.

U13 D2 

A great 4 quarter performance enabled Beaconsfield Blue to progress to the Grand Final. The 98 to 18 scoreline against Bayswater puts them as favourite for the decider in two weeks time.  Goals were shared around in a real team effort.

In a tough game for Lilydale, Montrose came out all guns blazing to win 102 to 2 and advance to the Preliminary Final next week.

U 14 A 

In an entertaining high-scoring game, Vermont defeated North Ringwood, 109 to 83 to advance through to the Grand Final.  Cooper Shiel led the way for Vermont with four goals while Archie Jagin was outstanding for North Ringwood with a seven-goal haul.

An 11 goal to 3 second half enabled Blackburn Black to take control and win the Elimination Final, 102 to 40 against Ferntree Gully.  Blake Lawson with five goals was a fine contributor for the winners.

U14 B

In a great game of football, South Belgrave finished the stronger of the two sides to win by 14 points, 65 to 51 over Upwey Tecoma to progress through to the Grand Final.

A 2.6 to 0.3 third quarter was enough for Mount Evelyn to gain the advantage against Norwood to win 51 to 28 and advance to the Preliminary Final.

U14 C

A tight game of footy was eventually won by Mitcham 38 to 29 over Vermont.

It was an impressive five-goal quarter was enough for Mooroolbark to win by 33 points, 83 to 50 against Kilsyth in an entertaining game of footy.

U14 D 

In a tight game of football, a fast-finishing Blackburn 4.2 to 2.3 just failed to get over the line against a consistent South Croydon who now progress to the Grand Final.  Arlo bran with five majors from South Croydon was a clear standout.

In an entertaining contest, Beaconsfield held Lysterfield at bay to progress to the Preliminary Final with a 66 to 41 victory.  Jake Skipper with four goals for Beaconsfield played very well for the afternoon.

U15 A 

It was an impressive four quarter performance from East Ringwood 93 to Lysterfield 44 enables them to move into the Grand Final.  Goals were spread in a real team effort.

In a tremendous game of football, Mitcham 64 eventually overcame Vermont 57, to secure the rights to a Preliminary Final next week. 6 goals to Joeseph Hughes was a highlight for Mitcham.

U15 B 

A dominant third term enabled Rowville to convincingly ease past South Belgrave 77 to 11 and have direct entry into the Grand Final.

A 7.1 to 1.3 last quarter allowed Montrose to easily win the Elimination Final against Chirnside Park, 101 to 25 and progress to the Preliminary Final. 

Four goals each to Haydon Mealor as well as 3 each to Kobi Tucker, Hayden Rololico and Rourke Salter was too much for the Chirnside Park defence to cope with.

U15 C 

A five-goal straight quarter set up a solid 71 to 54 win for Wantirna South over Lilydale.  Cooper Charles with five goals was a standout for Wantirna South, who now head into the Grand Final.

A 36-point half time lead was enough to set up the win for Heathmont against the Glen Waverley Rovers.  The final margin of 68 points sees the Jets into a Preliminary Final with confidence.  Harry Scholes with four goals led a fine team effort.

U15 D 

 A last quarter of 4.4 to 0.1 helped Montrose to defeat Mitcham/East Burwood 93 to 67 and send them into this year’s Grand Final. Five goals from Lucas Gray and four from Sam Hart of Montrose led the way for the Dees.

In a tight game of football, weight of scoring shots was enough for Bayswater to defeat Vermont 12.17 to 10.2 in an entertaining game. Ethan Pavlou with five goals for Vermont and four goals to Max Hughson of Bayswater were two players that had their kicking boots on !
