A seventh-placed finish for Croydon North MLOC in Ben Oakes last season as senior coach as the club prepares to climb back up the ladder in 2027.
SENIOR MEN’S
Summary:
Ladder Position: 7TH (5-11, 78.44%)
Best and Fairest: Bailey Cheong
Leading Goal Kicker: Lachlan Poli (40 Goals)
On the verge of a potential finals series last season, the KangaRams took a small step backwards in season 2026, finishing six wins out of the top four.
Plenty of list turnover over the off-season saw the KangaRams slow out of the blocks. They managed just two wins from their first nine games, six of those by nine goals or more.
They found some improvement in the back half of the season, closing the gap between themselves and top contenders such as Fairpark and Chirnside Park.
The KangaRams finished the year on a high note, putting 200 on the board in a 152-point Round 18 victory in Ben Oakes’ last game as senior coach.
Best Win: Round Two – Croydon North MLOC 13.10 88 def. Doncaster 12.15 87 @ Schramms Reserve
A nail-biting one-point victory over Doncaster saw the KangaRams hold off a fast-finishing Sharks side who had the last six scoring shots of the game.
Jackson Holly and Bailey Cheong converted well for the KangaRams, seven goals between them.
Drew Parker was influential in his 25-disposal game, having 10 touches and four marks in the last term as his side held off the Sharks.
Key Players:
Another great year for Bailey Cheong, a well-deserving winner of the club’s best and fairest award. 36 goals for the season, ten of those coming from the side’s massive Round 18 victory over Nunawading.
Nick Volk and Adam O’Donahue also had strong years, finishing second and third in the club best and fairest.
Drew Parker was the side’s leading disposal getter in 2026, averaging just shy of 18 disposals per game.
What’s Next?
A new senior coach next season for the KangaRams as Colin Rule takes on the role, having recent experience with North Ringwood and East Ringwood.
The division has strengthened over the last couple of years with the emergence of Bulleen Templestowe, and the addition of Fairpark and now Oakleigh District. Therefore, there’s a bit of work to do in closing the gap on the top four if they’re seeking their first finals series.
Netball
Division 13: 9th, 1-13
The KangaRams competed in this year’s Ringwood Mazda Netball competition, competing in Division 13.
Their early season victory came against Silvan in Round Nine, a twenty point win that saw Gabriella Gunther and Olivia Nation combine for 31 goals between them.
Olivia Nation was the side’s leading goal scorer with 98 for the year.
