The Victorian metropolitan football leagues of Victoria are united in expressing our deepest sympathies following the tragic incident that occurred during a Northern Football Netball League (NFNL) Reserves match on the weekend.

Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the individual involved, as well as the players, coaches, officials, volunteers, spectators and the wider football community who have been impacted by this devastating event.

Australian Rules Football is built on community, connection and the wellbeing of those who participate. While our leagues are fierce competitors on the field, we stand together in times of tragedy. The football community is one family, and today we stand alongside the NFNL as they support those most affected.

We acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of the emergency services, first responders, medical personnel, club officials and volunteers who responded on the day and over the past few days.

The health, safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in grassroots sport remains our highest priority. We encourage anyone affected by this incident to seek support and to check in on family members, teammates, colleagues and friends during this difficult time.
