FORMER EFL Head of Umpiring Cameron Nash has been appointed AFL Victoria’s Head Coach of Umpiring.
Nash, who was part of the EFL’s staff from 2009 to 2011, will be responsible for the management, coaching, recruitment, development and related appointments of all field, boundary and goal umpires for AFL Victoria managed competitions, carnivals and other events, including the Peter Jackson VFL and TAC Cup competitions.
He will also play a leading role in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for this critical component of the umpire talent pathway, while ensuring it is aligned with the AFL National Umpire Plan.
Nash arrives at AFL Victoria from AFL Queensland, where he performed a similar role as Umpires Coach/Manager.
State League and Talent Manager John Hook said Nash presented as the standout candidate after an extensive recruitment search.
‘This a role that requires experience in all aspects of umpiring, from coaching, recruitment and strategic development, and Cameron’s work with both community and state league competitions will be invaluable,’ Hook said in an AFL Victoria statement.
‘With Cameron’s experience at community level, he is also well qualified to help talented umpires make the step from community competitions into the state league environment.’
