SENIOR REP. COACH ANNOUNCEMENT

The Eastern Football League is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Moyle as Coach of its Senior representative side for season 2016.

Moyle stepped away from football at the end of the 2015 season to spend more time with family, however when the chance came up to lead the best talent in the competition Moyle, who played 48 games with St Kilda from 2000-2004, says he was flattered to have even been considered.

In the past the league has looked to the previous year’s Division 1 Premiership Coach, however with a change of timing to the fixture of next year’s Championships the League felt it was important to appoint an independent person to lead the side. Operations Manager Matthew Bishop is excited about the prospect of the League appointing a Coach without club commitments.

“We are rapt that Brett has made himself available as his previous experience and knowledge of the league will ensure that we continue to advance our program.

“Whilst the two previous Coaches have done a terrific job leading the representative program, we decided that due to the timing of interleague next season it would be best to have an independent coach in charge,”

There is no doubt of Moyle’s ability both as a player and a Coach in the Eastern Football League.

During his time with North Ringwood, He was named 2014 AFCA Senior Coach of the Year following the Saints Division 2 Premiership, Moyle’s second with the club (Division 3 – 2012). He is buoyed at the idea of still being involved in football without the yearlong commitment.

“No longer having the time to hold a full-time coaching job, this is a shorter commitment of training as well as watching as much football as I can in the first few weeks of the season.”

A Division 1 Premiership Captain with Balwyn in 2008, Moyle isn’t a stranger to the prestige of representative football, and is enthusiastic about the buy in from clubs, stating; “It is vital we get support from all clubs, players and coaches to be successful.” Whilst wanting to pick the best players Moyle suggests he doesn’t want to pick a cookie-cutter line-up.

“This won’t be a paper side, if we need to find a match up – we will. Regardless of who gets picked and who doesn’t, the side we assemble will be a quality outfit.”

Having already thought about what a potential EFL side will look like in 2016, Moyle will use his knowledge from the 2015 season as well as having a look at new recruits into the league, although he stated the side would not be picked on reputation alone.

“We have the ability, unlike previous years, to get a handle on who is in early season form, we can also have a look at some of the new recruits.” He said, ensuring the league takes the best possible line-up into its 2016 matchup.

The Eastern Football League will head down the highway on May 21/22 to take on the Geelong FL. Further information including game date and venue as well as squads will be announced in the coming months.
