SHARKS POWER PAST PANTHERS ON GOOD FRIDAY

Doncaster has recorded a rousing 10-point win over Blackburn in front of a bumper crowd at Morton Park in today’s Good Friday clash.

The Panthers raced out of the blocks early, taking an 11-point lead into quarter time through the dominance of forwards Ryan Bathie and Jake Hammond, before controlling the contest in the second term to extend the lead to 17 points at halftime.

Doncaster lifted after the main break, wrestling back the momentum through 2017 Chandler medallist Chris Annakis’ dominance in the midfield and McKenzie’s tireless efforts in the ruck, which saw Munks hit the scoreboard with his first major, along with Hall and Conway, resulting in a three-goal-to-one third term.

Blackburn’s one-point lead at three-quarter-time quickly evaporated early in the last quarter, when James Munks nailed a miracle goal from deep in the pocket to put the Sharks in front, while Blackburn’s Tim Watkins responded with his own brilliance up the other end to regain the lead.

The Sharks’ momentum however could not be halted, when milestone man Josh Lumicisi added his second goal to celebrate his 200th match, while Kalanj booted two crucial final quarter goals, including the sealer at the 28-minute mark.
