SWAINSTON APPOINTED CEO

The Eastern Football League (EFL) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Swainston as the League’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Swainston has been Acting CEO since the announcement of Phil Murton’s departure and will assume the role permanently.

Swainston brings to the role a wealth of football and corporate experience.

A former VFA player with Oakleigh and Box Hill, Division 1 best and fairest winner at Scoresby and a three-time EFL senior premiership player at the Waverley Blues, he has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Swainston, who has been General Manager – Football Operations (GM-FO) for the last two seasons, joined the EFL from technology firm Make-It-Mine, where he was General Manager, and was previously Managing Director of Taylor Made-Adidas Golf Pacific which is part of the Adidas Group. He also served on the EFL Board for two years (2015-2016).

EFL Chairman Graham Halbish said the League was thrilled to have someone of Swainston’s calibre take up the position as League CEO.

“Troy brings to the role a wealth of senior management expertise, along with a strong background in football including an intimate knowledge of the League,” Halbish said.

“He has demonstrated in his time on the Board and during his two seasons as GM-FO strong commercial acumen and is already very highly-regarded by clubs, having built strong relationships in his time so far with the League.

“We look forward to the League continuing to grow and evolve under Troy’s leadership.”

Swainston said he was looking forward to leaving his own mark on the League.

“I thank the Board for the opportunity to assume the role as CEO of the Eastern Football League,” Swainston said.

“I look forward to working with the Board, staff, clubs and all stakeholders associated with the EFL.

“The EFL is already a wonderful competition, and with female participation growing strongly, we are on an exciting journey.”
