UFTGFNC are pleased to announce Tim Edwards as the new U19’s coach. Tim has had a long coaching history and comes with a proven track record of developing players in a way that ensures that they reach their full potential.
Tim had an outstanding playing career representing North Melbourne, Richmond, Hobart, Ferntree Gully, Upwey, Scoresby, Boronia, De la Salle and Upper Ferntree Gully where he notched up 4 EDFL Best and Fairest, 7 Club Best and Fairest Was twice captain of EDFL Rep Teams, and won two Premierships.
In 2002 Tim arrived at Upper Gully as a playing assistant coach under Ed Farrell before injuries forced him to give away playing in 2004. At the end of 2004 the players got together and approached Tim about taking on the Senior Coaching role which
he ended up agreeing to. In his two seasons in charge the side finished 6th in 2005 before finishing Runner-up to South Croydon 2006
Since his involvement with the seniors Tim has continued to support Upper Gully especially the juniors, with both sons playing, where involvement over the last decade includes coaching, assistant coaching roles, mentoring, runner and as well as being the U17’s coach this season.
Tim has been passionate about the need to progress the kids and provide a pathway from the juniors to the seniors and help see the senior club prosper.
When asked about taking over the Under 19’s Coaching Position Tim commented that the kids coming up from the juniors to play senior footy need support and guidance to help them on their journey and the club needs everyone’s support from the President down to make the club a better place.
He provides Leadership qualities and will surround himself with a fantastic support staff in Mark Bailey, Ash Meyer & Ian Alabaster
The club would like to thank Matt Peterson & his partner Molly for their contribution to the club over the past 2 years. Matt was in the difficult position of navigating the Under 19’s through two years of disruption and performed this role with great credit to himself and family.
