Both Montrose and Heathmont will be out to create their own history when they meet in the Division 2 Women’s decider this weekend at Mulgrave Reserve.
This Saturday marks the third consecutive Grand Final for the Dees, this time entering as the slight favourites having won their Qualifying Final against Blackburn just under a fortnight ago.
They face a Heathmont side that took the long way to book their ticket to the decider, comfortably accounting for the Waverley Blues in the first week before winning a scrappy but tight affair against Blackburn in the Preliminary Final.
It’s a game littered with stars across the park, including Montrose co-captain Kiara Simons, who’s compiled an excellent first season with the Demons having been named in the best on 13 occasions.
Katelyn Betts has been excellent in attack since entering the side alongside Hannah Lawson, with both combining for 53 goals this season so far.
The Jets will be hoping young gun Emma Simpson has a big say offensively, having kicked 25 goals this season, including eight goals in the past four games.
2025 premiership players Kyla Morrow and Olivia Heinen will also be key alongside skipper Hailey Ferris, with all three putting together solid campaigns.
Adam Sullivan’s squad knocked off the Dees in their most recent encounter by 21 points back in Round 12 at Montrose Recreation Reserve.
Montrose did comfortably account for the Jets earlier in the season, though at H.E. Parker Reserve, winning by 63 points back in Round Five.
