In Division 1, Blackburn recorded a 27-point win over Norwood at Mullum Reserve. The Burners raced out of the blocks early to lead by 30 points at quarter time before a Leigh Williams-inspired Norwood clawed its way back, kicking seven goals in the second term to lead by two points at the main break. The sides rallied in the third term which saw scores level at the final change, before Ryan Bathie and Patrick Lawlor proved the difference for the Burners in the final term.
Mitcham has pulled off one of the upsets of the year in Division 2, defeating flag-fancy Doncaster East at Walker Park. The Tigers led at all changes, as Lucas Marro booted four majors.
In Division 3, Scoresby held off Heathmont by 18 points, coming from seven points down at the final change to slam on five goals to one in the last term. Meanwhile, Ferntree Gully won a thriller against Chirnside Park by two points.
East Burwood survived a late Coldstream surge, scraping home by one point on the wide expanses of Coldstream Reserve in Division 4. The Cougars trailed by 17 points at three quarter time before kicking three goals to one in the final quarter.
