#INFOCUS2018 | KNOX JUNIOR FC

Knox Junior Football Club president Simon Taylor spoke to EFL Media ahead of season 2018, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water and Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

Simon Taylor: We had a terrific 2017 season; having 16 teams fielded. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capture a grand final win but had five teams play finals.

Off-field we continued our focus on the kids having fun with our junior sides having themed snack nights and a disco. The club is passionate about looking after our young men and women both on and off the field; with older teams completing courses on substance abuse, depression and mental wellness.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

ST: We have 16 teams this season including five girls teams.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

ST: Our under-17s (1) have worked hard over the off-season and have a good mix of bottom and top-age players. I think if graded correctly they will have a massive chance of bringing home premiership success.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

ST: We would welcome all players especially in under-8s and under-9s as we still have spots available. Our growing girls teams also have spots available in all age groups from under-8s to under-18s.

If any players are interested in playing for Knox Junior Football Club this season, what do they have to do?

ST: If anyone is interested in joining this great community-based club please contact Simon Taylor (president) on 0425 411 663 or Daina Mactier (football operations) on 0422 267 247.
