JOURNEY TO THE DRAFT – CONNOR DOWNIE

Forest Hill and Vermont junior product Connor Downie has a goal of becoming an AFL ambassador to the Chinese community across the course of his professional career, and in a behind the scenes look at his journey to the Hawthorn Football Club, we see how this young man came to be.

The special insight -produced by NAB and TLA- follows Connor through the crazy year of 2020 as we see his development as a leader, his approach to training during a global pandemic and how he handles the anxiety of draft night.

The feature also gets access to Connor’s parents Tracey and Graham about how Connor came to love football despite their neutrality towards the sport, draft experts Kevin Sheehan and Cal Twomey on what drew clubs to the dashing wingman and why he’s exactly what Hawthorn need, as well as Connor’s Eastern Ranges mentor Darren Bewick, who details the strength of Connor’s leadership creditinals.
