By Ryan Long.

It was Pat Cronin Foundation Round for the Eastern Football Netball League and there were plenty of big results over the weekend that included the continued rise of Scoresby who won their fourth straight consecutive game in a row and more unpredictability from Division Two.

Eagles and Hawks meet for first time.

Beaconsfield was back on the winners list this weekend, keeping the Hawks to four goals for the afternoon at Holm Park Reserve.

There was plenty of intrigue heading into this game with the two senior sides meeting for the first time. Boronia entered the round undefeated after wins over Bayswater and Montrose.

Both sides went through a feeling-out stage in the opening half of the contest. Boronia star Mitch Mellis had 14 disposals and five clearances in the first quarter.

Inefficient at times kicking down the line, the Hawks played into the hands of Mick Fogarty’s defence. Beaconsfield was able to build momentum off the half-back line, playing the wide spaces of their home ground well.

Kade De La Rue returned from Frankston and had an immediate impact, starring for the Eagles with 28 disposals, 11 marks and two goals.

Jake Aarts, the former Richmond man, was very impressive in the side’s win with 26 disposals, 7 clearances, and 2 goals. Returning to his junior club this season, this was Aarts' best performance of 2025 thus far in Beaconsfield colours.

The margin stretched out in the backend of the third quarter and remained beyond the five-goal mark for the rest of the contest.

Tylah Stokoe celebrated his 100th senior game at Beaconsfield. A beloved member of the club, having started with the Eagles at the start of his junior career in the Under 9’s.

A 33-point loss for the Hawks ended a 16-game winning streak that stretched back to Round Six of the 2024 season.

They’ll look to bounce back at Miller Park next weekend when they host a North Ringwood side that is coming off a 102-point thumping at the hands of South Belgrave.

As for Beaconsfield, they’ll meet Montrose, a side they defeated three times last year including in the Elimination Final.

Division Two continues to throw up more surprises.

It’s been the most even division in the Senior Men’s competition this season and this weekend’s results only made it even more unpredictable.

After Surrey Park defeated Mulgrave, ending their unbeaten streak, and East Burwood beat Heathmont for the Rams’ first win of the season, all sides in the division have won at least one game, and not one side remains undefeated.

The Rams had been building for serval weeks, three close losses to start the season. They took apart a highly fancied Heathmont side by 55 points at H.E Parker Reserve on Saturday.

Marcys Young had a day out, 32 disposals and a goal in a best-on-ground performance. In defence, Kodey Logan continued his strong start to the season, with 23 disposals and 7 rebound 50s.

The win is the first for Senior Coach Kyle Dove who has taken over the role this season after the club has gone through three coaches in three years.

The Jets who welcomed in the former Doncaster coach and EFNL great Chris Annakis, once again struggled to score. Just six goals kicked for the afternoon, following a low-scoring outing the previous Friday Night.

Their concerns continue as do last year’s Semi Finalists, the Waverley Blues who had a 54-point loss themselves on the weekend.

Real Deal Scoresby.

After last year’s premiership triumph in Division Four, Scoresby have proved they’re the real deal in Division Three.

Four wins to start the season, their biggest coming against Knox last weekend at Scoresby Recreation Reserve.

The final margin was 41 points but it may have flattered the Falcons in the end. 30 scoring shots for Scoresby to just 14 for Knox.

Jordan Camilleri one of the side’s key recruits this season from Noble Park has been one of the side’s most impressive players thus far. 30 disposals against Knox and was giving the talented forwards at Scoresby plenty of delivery with 13 Inside 50s.

The usual suspects have been off to great starts to the year, with another 30 disposals each for Dale Hehir and Cooper Frith.

Up forward, Adam Amin and Declan McBean combined for eight goals between them.

The Magpies' four-and-zip start has cemented the club as a serious premiership contender in their new division. The only other side that remains undefeated in the division is the other Magpies, the Donvale Magpies.

Donvale sit second on the Division Three ladder, just percentage behind Scoresby. The two teams will have to wait until Round Eight to meet one another.
