EFNL announces Partnership with SmackTalk

Updated: Dec 5, 2024

The Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) is pleased to announce a new community partnership with SmackTalk.

SmackTalk was created by Wayne Holdsworth after his 17-year-old son Mac died by suicide following online exploitation. The ultimate goal of the organisation is to educate people about the dangers of online exploitation and to provide resources for mental health support and suicide prevention.

Since SmackTalk was launched in April 2024, Wayne has completed over 100 presentations and has spoken to more than 10000 people. EFNL clubs are encouraged to contact the league or SmackTalk for more information and about how they can get involved.

EFNL CEO Jy Bond stated, “ We are partnering with Smacktalk to provide our members with resources to support in the area of suicide prevention, awareness and support. Smacktalk will provide education around the risks involved with social media and also sextortion, for all our members. This is an area of growing concern, and we need learn about how to deal with and support each in this space.”

SmackTalk offers a free 40-minute session where Wayne, or one of his trained facilitators, will speak to a group including sporting clubs, to educate and reduce the epidemic and silent killer that is suicide.
