South Belgrave Junior Football Club president Rick Ryan spoke to EFL Media ahead of the 2018 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water and Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

Rick Ryan: Yes, especially fielding our first ever girls team and then these girls taking out the under-12 girls premiership.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

RR: Under-8s, 9s, 10s, 11s and 17s boys, and under-10, 12 and 14s girls in partnership with Lysterfield.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

RR: Really good, lots of work to prepare but very happy to field three girls teams in 2018 and build on our under-12 girls premiership in 2017.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

RR: Under-11s – great bunch of boys – up and comers!

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

RR: Under-17s.

If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?

RR: Contact Rick Ryan (club president on 0410 187 948) or president.southbelgravejfc@gmail.com or visit our website  sbjfc.sportingpulse.net
