A strong finish to the year for Ringwood creates plenty of optimism going forward, while the Redbacks' Netball program continues to flourish.
Senior Men’s
Ladder Position: 6th (8-10)
Leading Goalkicker: Jacob Broad (21)
Summary:
A late-season run of form enabled Ringwood to make a late push for a finals spot, ultimately finishing in sixth position on the ladder.
A young Redbacks side responded well after a tough opening fortnight to the season, taking big scalps against local rivals Heathmont over ANZAC Weekend, eventual premiers Wantirna South, as well as a one-point thriller over the Rams in a night fixture.
The side would lose seven of their next eight games before a late-season run of form opened up the chance of an unlikely finals finish.
The Redbacks finished with four wins from their last five games, missing the finals by just one win and a percentage point.
Best Win: Round Four – Ringwood 10.8 68 def. Wantirna South 7.16 58 @ Jubilee Park
Maybe this is a selection done more retrospectively because at the time, we didn’t realise just how strong a year Wantirna South would have.
But a ten-point win over the Devils in Round Four stands out as a major highlight of the 2025 season. It was a seven-goal blitz in the second term by the Redbacks that set up a big victory at home.
With Wantirna South pushing hard in the second half, defensively, they managed to keep a potent offense to just seven goals for the day.
Key Players:
Tim Jones was crowned Ringwood’s Best and Fairest winner after another fantastic year at the club.
Runner Up in the Best and Fairest was Jacon Bell. Averaging over 23 disposals per game, Bell missed the opening stretch of the season, returning through to the Reserves in Round Five.
After playing just 13 games over the last two seasons, Tim Waack played almost the full season and was rewarded with Team of the Year honours.
Off-Season Focus:
Plenty of positives to come out of an interrupted season for Ringwood.
Their best football saw them challenge the top sides, and if it wasn’t for a tough stretch in the middle of the year, we might have seen the Redbacks return to finals footy.
A couple of inclusions this off-season so far include Tom Jackson. A 200cm ruckman and at the age of just 22, looks set to have a massive role with the senior side next season.
Netball
Team by Team
Ringwood White (Division Four - 5th , 9-5)
Ringwood Black (Division 13 – 2nd, 9-5)
Ringwood Red (Division 14 – 4th, 7-5-1)
A strong year in the Ringwood Mazda Netball competition for Ringwood, with two of three teams playing off in the finals.
The Division Four team missed out on the finals by just a draw. Ringwood White won 9 of their 14 games, unlucky to miss out on a top-four finish. Nicole Stagg finished the season with 164 goals, also winning the club's best and fairest, finishing ahead of runner-up Zoe Cant.
Ringwood Black finished second on the ladder of Division 13, just missing out on a Grand Final spot after losing the first final by one point to the eventual premiers, Coldstream. Sophie Haddock won the club's best and fairest for Ringwood Black.
A third side competing for the club took the court in Division 14, making the finals after a Home and Away record of 7-5-1. Mary Wilson took home the side’s best and fairest award.
